Ahly's controversial winger Mahmoud Kahraba has rejoined the club's trainings on Sunday, just a few days ahead of Friday's Champions League match against Simba S.C of Tanzania, after ending his one-month suspension.

Earlier in March, Kahraba was hit with a suspension alongside a EGP 200,000 ($12,700) fine for disciplinary reasons.

Ahly didn't reveal the reason behind the punishment at the time, but local reports said he was punished for protesting a decision by coach Pitso Mosimane to start him on the bench in the 2-1 Egyptian Premier League victory over Talae El-Geish on 28 February.

The 26-year-old joined Ahly on a free transfer in January 2020 after terminating his contract with Portuguese club Desportivo Aves.

Although Kahraba has been a key Ahly member since joining, he continued his habit of stirring controversy after being suspended and also fined in different occasions.

During the past month, Kahraba missed key Ahly games, including both the home and away encounters against DR Congo's Vita Club in the African Champions League and an Egyptian Premier League match against Ismaily on 10 March.

He was also not available in Saturday's 2-2 draw against Sudanese giants Al-Merreikh in the fifth round of the African Champions League group stage.

Kahraba has made a superb start to the season, netting six goals in 14 appearances in all competitions.

Ahly's next game will be on Friday, when they host Simba S.C of Tanzania in the last round of the Champions League group stage. The defending champions, Ahly, have booked their place in the CAF Champions League quarterfinals with one match to spare, as they are now second in their group with eight points, five points behind Tanzanian side Simba.
