Zamalek coach Patrice Carteron
After beating El-Entag El-Harby at the Egyptian Premier League, Zamalek Coach Patrice Carteron announced that he will fight for the Egyptian Premier League title as they still have more games to play before the champion is decided.
Carteron, who was surprisingly brought back by Zamalek's interim board earlier last month despite abruptly leaving them at a crucial stage of the previous season in September 2020, claimed a 2-0 victory over beating El-Entag El-Harby in the Egyptian League late on Thursday.
"We still have more games to play and we will fight for the Egyptian Premier League title," Carteron told a local television programme after the game.
Zamalek are now in the driver's seat at the Egyptian league table with 36 points, six points ahead of second-place and previous title holders Ahly. The latter however, still have three matches at hand.
"I told the players ahead of the game that we have to do our best during the upcoming games as the league hasn't finish yet and we still have more games in the competition," the French coach said.
Zamalek failed to reach the African Champions League quarter finals but they still have to compete in domestic competitions.
"We will fight until the end of the season to compete in the League and the Cup," Caretron added.
