Ahly said on Sunday that coach Pitso Mosimane has pledged his future to the club after reports had linked him with the vacant South Africa job.

South African reports said the country's football association included Mosimane in its shortlist to take over at the national team following the sacking of Molefi Ntseki, who was dismissed following the Bafana Bafana's failure to qualify for next year's African Cup of Nations.

Mosimane was mooted as a possible replacement after making an impressive start to his Ahly adventure, guiding the team to the African Champions League and Egypt Cup titles in his first few months in charge.

Ahly also finished third at the FIFA Club World Cup in February under his guidance.

Mosimane led South Africa from 2010 to 2012 but Ahly are confident that he will honour his two-year contract with Egypt and Africa's most successful club.

"There hasn't been any official contact with South Africa's football association over Mosimane," Ahly's football director Sayed Abdel-Hafiz told an Egyptian radio station.

"Mosimane also informed our board of directors that he is fully committed to the club."

The 56-year-old hasn't publicly commented on the reports linking him to South Africa.
