Egyptian side Pyramids FC are likely to rest their key players as they host Tanzania's Namungo in a dead-rubber African Confederation Cup game on Wednesday, having already secured their place in the quarter-final.

Pyramids FC secured their place in the last eight as runners-up of Group D after defeating Zambian side Nakana 1-0 at home in the previous round last week.

They have nine points, six behind leaders Raja de Casablanca of Morocco, who claimed a maximum 15 points from five games.

"We will give the chance for substitute players in Wednesday's game as we seek to give our regulars the chance to recover from fatigue,'' Pyramids coach Rodolfo Arruabarrena told the pre-match news conference on Tuesday.

"We have a very busy calendar and the players are very exhausted. But that doesn't mean that the game against Namungo will be easy as we are seeking to maintain our recent winning run."

The Argentinean coach was under fire recently due to a string of poor results, especially after back-to-back losses against Raja in the Confederation Cup and a draw against Ghazl El-Mahalla in the domestic league.

But a victory over Zambia's Nkana and another win over Ittihad of Alexandria snapped that run.

''The coming period will be very tough for us in the Confederation Cup and in the domestic league and we have to be ready for this critical period, '' Arruabarrena added.
