Zamalek reached the Egypt Cup quarter-finals after claiming a 1-0 win over Ismaily in the competition's Round of 16 at Suez stadium on Thursday.
Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki scored the only goal of the game in the 40th minute after being superbly released by Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razek to chip the ball over the onrushing keeper.
Bencharki turned from hero to vilain as he received his marching orders just before the break after collecting consecutive yellow cards for throwing an elbow into an opponent face then protesting.
Ismaily made several substitutions in the second half as coach Ehab Galal introduced Angolan winger Ary Papel and Namibian striker Benson Shilongo in order to level the score but the duo failed to make their presence felt.
Despite their domination in terms of possession, Ismaily failed to threaten Zamalek's keeper Mohamed Awad.
Ismaily midfielder Mohamed Hassan was sent off in the stoppage time after receiving a second yellow card.
Zamalek will face Maqassa in the competition's quarters in the 4th of June.
