Egyptian Football Association (EFA) President Ahmed Megahed revealed that the 2020 Super Cup match between Ahly and Talae El-Gaish has been postponed to the end of the season.

“The Super Cup game was scheduled to be held on 1 July, but the date was not suitable for the sponsors. There was a thought of playing the game abroad as done previously, however, the Super Cup is now postponed until reaching an agreement with the sponsors. The Super Cup will be played after the end of the season,” said Megahed in local radio remarks early on Tuesday.

When asked about extending the stay of the normalisation committee assigned by FIFA, which directs the EFA temporarily until the next elections, he replied, “possibilities for a short period of extension are forthcoming. The elections are due to take place after the Olympic Games, and I am not considering running for the elections.”

Megahed also revealed that the EFA does not want to announce the schedule of August until the football Olympic national team returns from Tokyo, as if the team competes for a medal, then the Egyptian Premier League will be extended to the second half of September.
