Qatari side Al-Duhail have completed the signing of former Zamalek midfielder Ferjani Sassi for the coming three years, ending speculations concerning the player’s future.

‘‘The Club have completed the signing of Tunisian midfielder Ferjani Sassi for the next season on a free transfer,” read a statement on the club’s official website on Thursday.

Zamalek failed to renew the contract of the Tunisian midfielder, which expires at the end of this season, while the 29-year-old insisted that his contract expired on 30 May.

The player has not been attending Zamalek’s training sessions since the last international break at the start of June.

Earlier this month, Zamalek lodged a complaint with the FIFA against Sassi, arguing that he had left before completing his contract.

The White Knights said that Sassi’s deal is due to expire at the end of the current season, which is still ongoing.

Sassi, who has been one of the team’s key players since joining in the summer of 2018, played 102 games with Zamalek, scoring 16 goals. He won with the club the Egypt Cup and African Confederation Cup in 2019, as well as the Egyptian and African Super Cups a year later.
