Anxiety is increasing on the Zamalek side as the Shehata-Shikabala row is not over yet

Shikabala reacts angirly in his recent outburst against Shehata

Zamalek coach Hassan Shehata didn't ask the club management for a definite punishment for star Mahmoud "Shikabala" Abdel-Razek, White Castle clarified late on Friday.

Zamalek management enforced a temporary ban on the talented forward, Shikabala, due to a pitch-side fight with coach Shehata after he was sidelined in the Maghreb Fez game Sunday.

Television cameras caught the 26-year-old telling his boss: "I’m fed up with you; if you don’t want me then let me go."

Shikhabala's punishment was compounded when he was also barred from playing in Egypt's London Olympic team as a result of his outburst against Shehata.

It was reported on Friday that the veteran coach asked the Zamalek board to offload Shikabala, which the Cairo giants denied.

"Shehata has recorded all the details of the conflict in the match report. The coach didn't ask for any specific punishment; the whole matter is up to the management now," the club explained on its official website.

The Cairo giants didn’t comment on whether the player will stay or leave the club in the new season, especially amid recent rumours that he is seeking a move to Saudi side Al-Shabab.
