Ahly's Congolese striker Walter Bwalya joined Turkish side Yeni Malatyaspor on a one-season loan deal, the Cairo giants said on Tuesday.

Malatyaspor will have an option to make the deal permanent at the end of the season, Ahly said in a statement.

The 26-year-old joined Ahly from fellow Egyptian side Gouna last January on a four-year contract for $2 million.

However, he only played a bit-part role under South African coach Pitso Mosimane, scoring just five goals in 29 appearances in all competitions.

Ahly will still have to offload another foreigner to comply with a cap of five foreign players in each team's squad.

They already have in their ranks Tunisian left-back Ali Maaloul, Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng, Moroccan defender Badr Benoun, Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi and new signings Percy Tau (South Africa) and Luis Miquissone (Mozambique).

Local reports said Ahly would likely terminate the contract of Ajayi to make room for the two new signings.
