Zamalek President Hussein Labib revealed that the club is negotiating with Pyramids key player Abdallah Said and Esperance’s full back Hamdi Nagguez.

The head of the temporary committee that directs Zamalek, Labib, confirmed that his club is interested in signing the national team and Pyramids midfielder Said.

“Let’s stop talking about Said, since Zamalek is merely showing a preliminary interest in signing him; no more than that,” Labib told Zamalek TV.

The 36-year-old Said joined Pyramids FC in January 2019 after a stint with Saudi Arabia’s Ahli. In the 2019-2020, Said scored 21 goals in 38 appearances in all competitions, before droping to nine goals in 35 matches in the past season.

Labib also confirmed that there are ongoing negotiations with the Tunisian right full back Hamdi Nagguez.

“I won’t reveal any more details, but we have been in contact with the player recently, and we have coach Carteron’s approval from a technical point of view,” he explained.

“In the event we sign Nagguez, our current right full back — Hamza Methlouthi — will retain his position, as we don’t have any intentions to sell him after the outstanding performance he pulled off in the recent period.”

“Nagguez has concluded his contract with Esperance, and he will waive the penalty imposed against Zamalek by his side, which are all factors we are considering ahead of this deal,” he added.

The 28-year-old Tunisian international joined Zamalek in January 2018 coming from ES Sahel then moved on to FK Suduva Marijampole of Lithuania before joining Tunisia’s Esperance in July 2020.

Labib concluded his remarks by discussing the status of renewing Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki’s contract, revealing that all the terms of the new contract have been sealed except one point, which the Zamalek president said he will not accept under any condition.
