Newly-arrived South African winger Percy Tau is doing well in his recovery programme from a muscle injury and he will be ready to join Ahly's training sessions in two weeks, the team's doctor Ahmed Abu Abla said late on Monday.

The 27-year-old winger sustained a muscle injury during the national team's match with South Africa in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers last week. The club management said he was expected to be out of action for three weeks.

"Percy Tau started his rehab and he will join the team's full training in the coming two weeks," Abu Abla said on television.

"The player sustained a muscle injury during the match with South Africa on 2 September and the South African doctor told him it was a minor problem and that he could continue playing."

Tau left the field during South Africa's 1-0 win over Ghana in the 2022 World Cup qualifiers last week due to the muscle injury causing a major blow for Ahly in the crunch showdown against Talae El-Geish in Egypt's Super Cup on 21 September.

The Red Devils signed left-winger Tau on a four-year contract coming from English Premier league side Brighton.
