Ahly extended the contract of forward Salah Mohsen for four years, the Cairo giants announced on Tuesday.

The new deal ties Mohsen to the club until the summer of 2026, Ahly said in a brief statement on their official website. The 23-year-old's previous contract was due to expire next summer.

Mohsen was given a new lease of life after returning from a loan spell at Alexandria-based club Smouha in the summer of 2020.

Under South African coach Pitso Mosimane, Mohsen scored eight goals in 35 appearances in all competitions last season, providing one assist.

Although he is mostly used as a substitute, Mohsen's trickery down the flanks and goal-scoring instincts usually come in handy for Ahly.

On the international level, Mohsen was part of Egypt's U23 squad for the Olympic Games in Tokyo, where he made four appearances as the team bowed out at the quarter-finals after losing 1-0 to eventual champions Brazil.

He also earned four caps with Egypt's senior team, with the last coming in last month's 1-1 World Cup qualifying draw with Gabon in Franceville, where he helped set up a last-gasp equaliser.

Ahly also extended the contract of midfield linchpin Amr El-Sulaya for two years on Monday as they move to secure the future of their key men.
