The new Egyptian Premier League season to start on 25 October

The Egyptian Premier League held a draw on Tuesday for the domestic season that will start on 25 October, with competitive matches scheduled in the first round for both Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek.

The luck of the draw is pitting champions Zamalek against Enppi in their opening game and heavyweights Ahly versus Ismaily.

The Premier League revealed that no structural changes have been made to the tournament ahead of this new season, with the league still comprising 18 teams that will each play two legs, resulting in 34 matches per team.

The Cairo derby will take place in an early stage of the league, as titleholders Zamalek will host Ahly in the third round.

The dates of the fixtures will be announced later on Tuesday when the draw fully concludes.
