Ashour's previous deal was due to run out in 2023 but Zamalek are looking to secure the long-term future of their key players.
Reports said left-back Abdallah Gomaa, whose current contract expires next summer, has also agreed to prolong his stay, although no formal announcement has been made yet.
Ashour joined Zamalek from Ghazl El-Mahalla in the summer of 2019 but had only played a bit-part role until midfield linchpin Sassi left Zamalek in the latter stages of last season.
The 23-year-old then took Sassi's place in the heart of midfield, assuming the number eight role.
He has played 49 games with Zamalek since his arrival, scoring seven goals and providing four assists. He won the Egyptian Premier League and Egypt Cup titles with the Cairo giants.
