Egypt's Ahly salvaged a 1-1 draw at the death thanks to a brilliant assist from forward Percy Tau to claim a record-extending eighth African Super Cup title following a 6-5 shootout victory over Morocco's Raja Casablanca in Qatari capital Doha on Wednesday.

“It is a brilliant feeling. The game was very tough, and we were one goal behind, but we managed to equalize the score and win the title,” the 27-year-old Tau told reporters after the game.

“I am so happy to win my first title with Ahly. This is the beginning of my history here at Ahly,” the South African winger added.

The Red Devils signed winger Tau on a four-year contract coming from English Premier league side Brighton.

Ahly, who won back-to-back African Champions League and Super Cup titles, are now five Super Cup triumphs clear of nearest challengers Zamalek.
