Ahly’s veteran winger Walid Soliman snatched the lead for the Red Devils only six minutes after the break from a volley inside the area while NBE Club snatched the equalizer six minutes before the final whistle from a penalty kick.

Ahly’s South African coach Pitso Mosimane decided to participate in the domestic tournament with the youngest players as the regular squad are in national teams’ duty in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations.

The Red Devils started their mission in the EFA Cup with goalless draw with Gouna, 1-1 draws with Ismaily and Arab Contractors respectively before losing 3-0 to Smouha last week.

EFA Cup regulations state that each leader of the three groups will qualify to the knockout stage along with the best second placed from all the groups.

Sunday’s draw with NBE Club left Ahly in the tail of Group B with four points.

The Reds are scheduled to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup held in the United Arab Emirates, and their first match will be on 5 February against Mexico’s Monterrey.
