“The Sagrada Esperanca game will be played on 19 February away in Angola,” read a short statement by Zamalek late on Monday.

In late January, the African football governing body informed the Cairo giants that their Champions League group stage opening game against Angolan rivals Atletico Petroleos will be played on 12 February.

Zamalek was drawn in Group D of the group stage alongside GD Sagrada Esperança (Angola), Atletico Petroleos (Angola), and Wydad AC (Morocco).

Five-time African champions Zamalek were eliminated from the group stage of the last edition.

Meanwhile, Zamalek’s archrivals and holders Ahly were drawn in Group A alongside Al-Merrikh (Sudan), Al-Hilal (Sudan), and Mamelodi Sundowns (South Africa).

The Reds’ opening match will be against Al-Merrikh on 5 March.
