El-Geish scored the winner with 14 minutes remaining, getting the better of Zamalek even though the Cairo giants played with several regular players.

The likes of veteran schemer Mahmoud Shikabala, Moroccan winger Mohamed Ounajem and central defender Mohamed Abdel-Ghani were all present but Zamalek rarely threatened their opponents.

The White Knights had a disappointing campaign in the third-tier domestic competition, losing three times, drawing twice and winning only once in five Group B games.

They finished second from bottom in the six-team group with four points.

Ghazl El-Mahalla, who crushed Zamalek 3-0, topped the group with 11 points to qualify for the semis.
