Abdel Aziz Abdel–Shafy, “Zizo,” has been appointed as a caretaker coach of Ahly until January. Chief of Ahly’s youth sector,  Zizo replaces Hossam El-Badry, who resigned on Sunday following the Reds’ 3-1 defeat against Ismaily.

The 58-year-old tactician will lead the team throughout the next four games, including the derby clash against Zamalek on December 31.  Ahly are reportedly looking for a foreign coach to take charge of the team starting from January.

Former Ahly star Zizo will be assisted by Mohamad Youssef, Yasser Radwan and Ibrahim Radwan as a goalkeeper coach. Sayed Abdel-Hafiz, the coordinator of Ahly’s football committee, replaces Hady Khachaba as football director.

Zizo has great experience in the Egyptian league, having coached teams like Arab contractors, Ittihad of Alexandria, Masry and Suez Cement. He was also at the helm of the Egypt U23 team in 1999 but failed to reach the Olympic games at Sydney in 2000.
