Ismaily coach Juan Brown had his contract terminated by mutual consent after just three months in charge, the struggling Egyptian Premier League club announced late on Thursday.

The Argentinean was brought in last November after the team made a poor start to the season, losing their opening three games.

However, he failed to turn around the fortunes, with Ismaily remaining winless after they drew three times and lost as many league games under Brown.

"Ismaily's board of directors announced that the contract of coach Juan Brown had been terminated by mutual consent after a series of negative results in the Premier League," the club said in a statement.

Former star Mohamed Hommos and Ashraf Khedr will take charge of Ismaily on a temporary basis, the club said.

Ismaily's chairman Yehia El-Koumi said in a television interview that the team's former coach Sebastien Desabre had turned down an offer to return to the club, citing his commitments with French second division side Chamois Niortais.

Belgian coach Tom Saintfiet, who led debutants Gambia to the African Cup of Nations quarter-final before they lost to hosts Cameroon, said he was willing to take charge of Ismaily but not before March, according to El-Koumi.

"I preferred to bring in a foreign coach … but now the new coach will likely be an Egyptian," he added.

Ismaily lie second from bottom in the league table with three points, four adrift of the safety zone.
