The Cairo giants will be hosting their South African counterparts in the second round of the African Champions League’s (CAF) group stage.

Maaloul, 32, and Abdel-Moneim, 23, weren’t available in Tuesday’s 4-0 Egyptian league win over rivals Maqassa due to different injuries.

Maaloul was suffering from muscular fatigue, while Abdel-Moneim was suffering from a knock to the head that he picked up against Sudanese side Al-Hilal last week.

According to Ahly’s official website, central defender Ayman Ashraf, 30, is still continuing his rehabilitation programme from knee pains.

On Friday, holders Ahly were held to a 0-0 draw against Sudan’s Al-Hilal in their opening match of the CL’s group stage.

Ahly and Al-Hilal now have one point each in the group, which also includes Sudan’s Al-Merrikh and South African side Mamelodi Sundowns.
