Pyramids bagged maximum six points from their opening two matches, having beaten Libya's Ahli Tripoli and Zambian side Zanaco.

They are also enjoying a fine run in the Egyptian Premier League, which they top with 23 points from nine games, one ahead of second-placed Ahly, who have a game in hand.

Sfaxien are likely to provide the stiffest test yet to Pyramids, who are hoping to win Africa's secondary club competition on their third appearance, having reached the final in 2020 and the semis last year.

"Our match against Sfaxien is very important because our opponents have vast experience in African competitions," Pyramids coach Ihab Galal told the pre-match news conference.

Fellow Egyptian side Masry are also aiming to maintain their position on top of Group C as they face Congolese side AS Otoho away from home.

Masry lead the group with four points from a draw with Cameroon's Coton Sport and a victory over DR Congo giants TP Mazembe.

Mazembe are second on three points, followed by Coton Sport on two and AS Otoho on a solitary point.

"We are taking it one match at a time to advance. Our win over Mazembe gave the team a big boost," said Masry's Tunisian coach Moïne Chaabani, a two-time African Champions League winner with Esperance.
