Pyramids FC reclaimed top spot with an easy 2-0 win over Arab Contractors in the Egyptian Premier League on Friday, leapfrogging Ahly before both sides meet in an anticipated clash in midweek.

Moroccan midfielder Walid El Karti wasted an early penalty for Pyramids but made amends to open the scoring on 26 minutes, heading home a mis-hit shot from Islam Eissa that found him unmarked.

Amid little resistance from Contractors, Pyramids mounted an onslaught and were unlucky not to extend their lead on several occasions.

Substitute Ibrahim Adel ensured the win with five minutes remaining, sending an angled volley into the bottom corner after being set up by veteran playmaker Abdallah El-Said.

Both had come on in the second half as Pyramids coach Ihab Galal was able to rest several key players before the team take on Ahly on Tuesday.

Pyramids are on top with 26 points, one ahead of Ahly, who still have a game in hand.

"We are happy to move top again but I don't really care about our position for now. I'm only focusing on getting wins and taking it one game at a time," Galal said.
