Egypt's third most successful side Ismaily eased their relegation worries after claiming their first victory of the season with a 2-1 win over Ittihad of Alexandria in the Egyptian Premier League on Wednesday.

Winger Mohamed El-Shami fired the struggling side in front on 24 minutes but Khaled El-Ghandour brought Ittihad level three minutes later.

However, Mohamed Adel netted four minutes past the hour mark to hand Ismaily a much-needed win, which will also give coach Hamad Ibrahim a respite after a poor run of results.

Ibrahim took over last month following the sacking of Argentinean coach Juan Brown but could not spark a revival, with Ismaily settling for two consecutive draws against Maqassa and Pharco.

Ismaily secured their first win after 13 matches and, although they remain at the bottom of the table with eight points, they are now just three points adrift of the safety zone.

Nicknamed the Dervishes, Ismaily are one of Egypt's most successful teams behind Cairo giants Ahly and Zamalek.

They have three domestic league titles and two Egypt Cups to their name. They were also the first Egyptian side to win the lucrative African Champions League, having lifted the trophy in 1969.
