Egypt's Masry reached the African Confederation Cup quarter-finals after securing a 2-0 home victory over Cameroon's Coton Sport on Sunday.

Mohamed Abdel-Latif, better known as Grendo, gave Masry the lead in the 35th minute when he rose between two defenders to power a free header home following a left-wing cross.

Grendo also had a hand in the second goal eight minutes into the second half as Masry asserted their dominance.

He fed Mohamed Antar with a precise pass on the right hand side of the area, with the winger pulling the ball back to the unmarked Hassan Ali to tap in easily.

Masry are on top of Group C on 10 points, two ahead of DR Congo giants TP Mazembe and five clear of Congo's AS Otoho with one match remaining.

The Port Said-based club need only a draw away to Mazembe in the last round next month to go through as the group leaders.

Masry took part in the Confederation Cup for four straight years (2017-20), reaching the semi-final in 2018 and the quarters on their previous participation in 2020.
