Egypt's Pyramids FC, who had already qualified for the quarter-finals, lost top spot in their African Confederation Cup group after slumping to a 1-0 defeat away to Libya's Ahli Tripoli on Sunday.

A comical own goal from right-back Omar Gaber nine minutes into the second half handed Pyramids their first loss in Group A.

After an innocuous Ahli cross was flicked by two Pyramids defenders as they tried to clear it, Gaber nodded the ball into his own net at the far post.

Pyramids struggled to create chances throughout, with Ahli Tripoli looking the better side.

The hosts could have taken the lead at least twice, with striker Saleh Al Taher firing over the bar from good scoring positions on a couple of occasions.

Pyramids dropped to second in the group with 10 points, with Ahli Tripoli overtaking them on top with 12.

The Emirati-owned club have to beat Zambia's Zanaco and hope Ahli Tripoli stumble against Tunisia's Sfaxien in the final round next month if they are to advance as the group leaders.
