TP Mazembe of DR Congo snatched Group C lead of the Confederation Cup after beating Egyptian side Masry 2-0 in the final round of group stage on Sunday.

Winger Adam Bossu snatched the lead for Mazembe seven minutes from the break before he doubled the score in the 75th minute to give the hosts a boost of leading the group.

Masry had already booked their place in the quarterfinals after finishing 2nd in Group C with 10 points, one point behind the group’s leaders Mazembe.

“The players have already shown a lot of determination during the group stage and we must keep on during the rest of the campaign starting from the quarterfinals, which will be more difficult,” Masry coach Moine Chaabani told the pre-game news conference.
