According to the statement, the club sent an official letter to Egypt’s Minister of Sports Ashraf Sobhi seeking permission for the fans’ presence during this crucial clash.
The club confirmed their confidence in the Egyptian security forces and their capacity to organise and secure the event especially after their success in Egypt’s game against Senegal in the World Cup qualifiers that saw the presence of more than 70,000 supporters.
The club board is ready to cooperate with all the concerned parties in order to guarantee the full success of the event.
Usually, Egyptian authorities allow the presence of 5,000 supporters at club games in the domestic league and the African competitions.
Ahly reached the competitions’ quarterfinals after finishing second in their group behind leaders Sundowns of South Africa.
They are bidding for their 11th Champions League title in the club’s history and the third in a row.
