South African coach Pitso Mosimane’s agency has denied in a statement on Tuesday the rumours linking him to signing a new contract after leaving Ahly.

“It has been brought to our attention that there are rumours surrounding coach Pitso Mosimane’s presence in Qatar, which claim that he signed a deal with a new team,” read a statement published by Mosimane’s agency MT Sports Marketing & Management.

“These rumours are misleading and untrue. Coach Pitso and his technical team have not signed with a new team. The coaches will be heading back to South Africa in due course,” the statement added.

Ahly and Mosimane ended their contract by mutual consent on Monday, after the South African faced criticism from the board. At the same time, Mosimane fired back, stating that the Reds’ board is influenced by social media when taking decisions.

“Since the parting of ways with the former club, we have received a number of enquiries from various teams internationally and locally, including national teams. We have not committed the coaches to any team yet,” said MT Sports statement.

“Should there be any new developments regarding that matter, MT Sports Marketing & Management will make an official announcement,” the statement concluded.

Mosimane’s outstanding period with Ahly ended after 20 months in which he won six titles, most notably two consecutive African Champions League titles and two African Super Cup titles.
