“The new season is set to kick off in the first week of October, as the current one had many out-of-league commitments that caused a delay,” Hussein said in a statement on Wednesday.

“The new season will end by the start of June next year, given that it will not have as many interruptions,” he added.

As previously scheduled, the league’s current season is set to end by 30 August.

Holders Zamalek currently lead the Egyptian Premier League table with 44 points from 20 matches, seven points ahead of third-placed and arch rivals Ahly, who have only played 16 games.

The semi-final matches will be held on 3 July, while the final will be played three days later.
