“Gabon striker Malick Evouna arrived at Aswan airport to sign a contract with the team starting the next season,” Aswan Club said in a statement on Monday.
“Evouna will join Aswan for two years on a free transfer and will undergo medical tests before joining the team,” the club added.
The 29-year-old Gabonese striker left Ahly in the summer of 2015 to join China's Tianjin Teda in a three-and-a-half-year deal with a record fee of $8 million.
The international striker, who delivered outstanding performances with Ahly in the 2015 season, made a slow start at Ahly but proved his worth with some convincing displays, scoring 12 goals in 24 appearances in the domestic league, helping the Red Devils regain the league title from rivals Zamalek.
Evouna joined Ahly from Wydad Casablanca of Morocco in 2015 in a record transfer deal that totalled $2.5 million, the most expensive in Egypt's football history.
He joined Turkish side Konyaspor in 2017 on loan before joining Portuguese team Santa Clara in 2019, then he finished his latest trip in CS Sfaxien of Tunisia in 2020 but terminated his contract with the team to become a free agent last season.
Aswan booked their place in the Egyptian Premier League for the next season after leading the table in the second division league.
The Upper Egypt team have recently signed former Egypt U-23 national team coach Rabie Yassin ahead of the new season of the Egyptian Premier League.
The new season is scheduled to begin in October and will conclude by the start of June 2023, according to the league's board member Amer Hussein.
