The 31-year-old international midfielder was stretched off during the Reds’ win against Gouna 2-0 on Sunday.
Ahly’s TV channel announced on Monday that scans have been conducted and it has been determined he will not be available before two months. The domestic season is set to end on 30 August.
The injury of El-Sulaya comes to add to Ahly’s woes as the team is already missing a host of players due to injuries.
Striker Mohamed Sherif and winger Hussein El Shahat have already been ruled for the rest of this campaign.
Percy Tau, Luis Miquissone and Mohamed Mahmoud have just resumed training, while Taher Mohamed Taher, Akram Tawfik and Mohamed Abdel-Moneim are still unavailable.
Ahly has been struggling with injuries this season with a congestion of fixtures that saw the team play every three days, leading to repeated injuries.
“I don’t know who put on such a schedule, but it is very harmful and we are losing players every game. Today I lost three players because of injuries. I don’t know how to deal with that,” coach Ricardo Soares said during the post-game conference on Sunday.
Ahly will play Maqassa on Wednesday to keep up with leaders Zamalek, who have a nine-point lead but have played two games more.
