Zamalek have terminated the contract of their Tunisian right-back Hamdi Nagguez amicably early on Thursday as the player will repay the money, he received from the club to be a free agent, according to a statement by Zamalek management.

“Zamalek parted ways with Nagguez amicably. The Tunisian player will resend the transfer fees he received from the club,” Zamalek’s football director Amir Mortada said in a statement.

The 29-year-old joined Zamalek in January 2018 as he booked a regular place in the team’s starting lineups to make 64 appearances in one season.

In February 2019 the Tunisian star left the Whites in an acrimonious manner, unliterary annulling his contract over unpaid dues, winning a verdict against Zamalek which stated that the team had to pay him $1.3 million.

Meanwhile, Zamalek caretaker board in September 2021 signed Nagguez again and he was reportedly paid 75 percent of his first season’s salary in advance, which the Whites agreed to, especially after he decided to drop the case he filed against them at the FIFA.

He left Zamalek less than one month after joining, moving to Saudi Arabia's Ahli on a free transfer after the Cairo giants were hit with a transfer ban last season.

Zamalek were banned from registering any new signings for two transfer windows and fined $200,000 after striking a new deal with youngster Hossam Ashraf while he had already signed for a Cameroonian academy.

Zamalek’s elected board headed by Mortada Mansour filed a complaint against the player to return the money he received from the club and won a verdict against the Tunisian star.

“Zamalek will renounce the verdict against Nagguez after the player pays the money he received from the interim board and terminated his contract amicably,” Amir Mortada said.
