“Ajayi signed a three-year contract with Smouha as a free agent after finishing his deal with Libyan team Al-Nasr,” Smouha Vice President Omar El-Ghuniemi told Egyptian local sports website filgoal on Sunday.
Ahly parted ways with Nigerian forward Junior Ajayi after a five-year spell at the club in December 2021 by mutual consent after settling all financial and administrative details.
He joined Libyan side Al-Nasr Benghazi in February 2022.
The 26-year-old winger joined Ahly in 2016 coming from Tunisian side CS Sfaxien. He played 161 matches with the Cairo giants where he scored 41 goals and assisted with another 30.
During his spell, he won four league titles and two Champions League trophies.
He has been a key player for Ahly, but fell down the pecking order during the tenure of former coach Pitso Mosimane last season.
