Gonias was re-appointed as Pyramids' coach in April following the club's elimination from the Confederation Cup quarters.

He helped the team finish second in the Egyptian Premier League this season for their best ever position.

The 51-year-old had a previous experience with Pyramids, having spent three months in charge of the team last season before being sacked in September 2021.  

Under his guidance, the team played 23 games, winning 14, drawing three and losing six.
