Ahly's Mozambican winger Luis Miquissione joined Abha on a season-long loan, the Saudi club said on Friday, after he failed to establish himself as a regular starter at the Cairo giants.

Abha welcomed the arrival of Miquissone on their social media channels but did not disclose how much they had paid to sign him on loan, or whether the deal includes an option to make the move permanent at the end of the season.

Ahly have yet to formally announce the 27-year-old's departure.

Miquissone has struggled for first-team opportunities since making a big move to Ahly from Tanzania's Simba SC in the summer of 2021.

He made 26 appearances in all competitions last season, scoring five goals and providing a solitary assist.

Miquissone was only given a proper chance to show his worth in the latter stages of the season when Ahly decided to field a weakened side after losing hope to compete for the Egyptian Premier League title, which their arch-rivals Zamalek won for a second straight season.

He started six of Ahly's last 10 matches of the season, scoring twice. However, his form was still below the expectations of the team's demanding fans even though he was praised by outgoing coach Ricardo Soares.

Abha lie tenth in the Saudi league table with three points from two games.
