"We announce the transfer of Bruno Sávio to the Egyptian Al Ahly SC," Club Bolivar said on their Twitter account.
"As this is a great opportunity in Bruno's career, we wish him every success at one of the biggest clubs in Africa."
Ahly have yet to formally announce the deal, which marks their first close-season signing as they seek to bolster their squad to wrestle the Egyptian Premier League title back from arch rivals Zamalek, who won the competition the past two seasons.
Club Bolivar chairman Marcelo Claure said on Twitter that it was hard to persuade Savio to stay put after Ahly had tabled their offer.
"My commitment to the whole family #Bolivarista is one of total transparency. An offer has come from Al Ahly from Egypt for $1.5M for Bruno Savio. I have personally spoken with him about him staying, but he has been wanting to leave Bolivia for several months now," he said.
"The offer is unmatched and is important from a sporting point of view because (Savio) will have a chance to play at the Club World Cup. From our side, we only want players … who are 100% committed."
Savio enjoyed one of his best seasons last term, scoring 16 goals in 31 appearances in all competitions as Club Bolivar won the domestic league title.
The 28-year-old also had stints with several Brazilian sides including Guarani, Bragantino, Cuiaba and America Mineiro. All in all, he netted 33 goals in 141 appearances.
Ahly's attack has misfired in a season to forget. Mohamed Sherif, who was the league's top scorer in 2020-21 with an impressive haul of 21 goals, could only score seven goals last term after suffering a stunning dip in form.
