Ismaily splash more cash to unveil 7th signing in comeback attempt

Continuing to rebuild their squad in hope of a comeback in the new season after narrowly escaping relegation in the last one, Ismaily unveiled Gouna versatile winger Mahmoud Shabrawy as their 7th major signing in the summer transfer window.

“Ismaily signed Shabrawy until the 2025-26 season, coming from Gouna,” read a statement by Ismaily released on Thursday.

“The player passed medical tests before signing the contracts and he is ready to join the team’s trainings amid preparations for the new season,” the statement added.

The 27-year-old winger started his professional career with second division Suez Canal side Qanah before joining Gouna in 2017 season.

Shabrawy leaves a relegated Gouna, after making 74 appearances with Red Sea side in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing 5 assists.

The popular Dervishes, the first-ever Egyptian side to win an African championship title and also winners of various domestic titles, narrowly escaped relegation in the Egyptian Premier League last year, finishing in 13th place with 38 points, winning 10, drawing in 11, and losing 13.

Shabrawyis the 7th signing by Ismaily so far during the ongoing summer transfer window after Tunisian trio Hamdi Nagguez, 29 Nour Zamen Zammouri, 24, and Firas Chaouat, 26;  Ivorian Kader Coulibaly, 30, and Ghanian Yaw Annor, 24.

The Dervishes also signed another former Egypt international Bassem Morsi, 30, from Ceramica Cleopatra FC.
