The Alexandria-based club, which finished in 12th in the league last season, did not disclose the financial details of the deal.

The 31-year-old Egyptian international, who has been a starter since joining Zamalek from Wadi Degla in 2017, fell out of favour with coach Jesualdo Ferreira last season.

The portuguese tactician started the second half of the season with young defender Hossam Abdel-Meguid - in place of Alaa - who solidified the defense and helped the team win their second league title in a row.

In more than six years with the White Knights, Alaa scored 41 goals in 175 games in various tournaments, becoming the highest scoring defender in the history of the team.

He played 16 games with the Pharaohs since he made his debut with the national football team in 2012.
