18:05 Both sides step onto the pitch for the pre-match warm-up amid a raucous atmosphere. The stadium is already packed, less than an hour before kick-off.

18:00 The line-ups are out! No surprise selections as Ahly and Zamalek stick to almost the same players they fielded in recent games.

17:30 Both sides have met seven times in the annual one-game competition, with Ahly winning five games and Zamalek two.

17:00 Ahly are the record Egyptian Super Cup winners with 11 titles, followed by Zamalek on four.

16:00 As in any knockout tie, if the scores are level at the end of regulation time the game will head into two additional 15-minute periods of extra time. A penalty shootout will be used to determine the winner.

15:00 Zamalek will also lose the services of first choice defender Mahmoud El-Wensh, who sustained a knee injury during a league game last week.
“El-Wensh is an important player in the team’s squad but we will… do our best to keep the same performance,” Zamalek coach Jesualdo Ferreira said.

14:00 Ahly will miss the services of Malian midfielder Aliou Dieng after sustaining a muscle injury during the Red Devils's last game in the Egyptian Premier League against Aswan SC and was substituted at half-time.
“Aliou Dieng is an important player for us, but we have a lot of players to replace him,” Ahly coach Marcel Koller said.

13:30 Zamalek are banking on the shrewd tactics of canny Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira to get one over Ahly, even though they are sorely missing the spark of Moroccan winger Achraf Bencharki, who departed at the end of last season after his contract had expired.

12:00 Ahly, reeling from a disappointing 2021-22 season, are eyeing a fresh start while Zamalek are looking to assert their authority from the outset.
