A depleted Zamalek side missing a host of regular players will be looking to beat Masry for the second time in five days as they resume Egyptian Premier League action against the Port Said-based club on Thursday.

Zamalek made light of their absences to claim a narrow 1-0 win over Masry in the Egypt Cup quarter-final last Saturday, thanks to a superb second-half strike from wing-back Sayed Abdallah.

They will face the same opponents again in Alexandria, almost a month after their previous league game ended in a disappointing 1-1 draw with Enppi, which prevented them from making it three wins out of three in the new season.

With Egypt having failed to qualify for the World Cup, the league's competition committee opted to hold several rounds during the ongoing showpiece in Qatar as it seeks to avoid another drawn-out season.

Zamalek welcome back Portuguese coach Jesualdo Ferreira after he missed the Egypt Cup tie against Masry for family reasons.

However, they are still without a handful of key players, including all of their summer signings apart from winger Mostafa Shalabi.

Egyptian international left-back Ahmed Fattouh, defender Mohamed Abdel-Ghani, veteran winger Mahmoud Shikabala and Beninese striker Samson Akinyoola are some of the players who are out through injury.

Tunisian international Seifeddine Jaziri is also unavailable as he is part of the Carthage Eagles' squad for the World Cup.

Zamalek are fifth in the league table with seven points, three behind leaders Ghazl El-Mahalla, who played a game more. Masry are 11th with four points from three matches.
