Portuguese coach Pacheco, an ex-Zamalek boss, took over at Pyramids following the dismissal of Greek Takis Gonias, who was shown the door following a disappointing 3-0 loss to leaders Ahly last week.

The big-spending club gave him a winning start in superb fashion, easing past Mahalla in a one-sided affair.

Winger Ramadan Sobhi stole the show with a goal and two assists to continue his rich vein of form this season.

He opened the scoring on 41 minutes before Burkinabe midfielder Blati Toure doubled their lead three minutes later.

Sobhi set up South African striker Fagrie Lakay for a third on 67 minutes before providing another assist to Ibrahim Adel 10 minutes from time to complete the rout.

Pyramids, who finished as runners-up last season, lie fourth in the table with 23 points, seven behind leaders Ahly.

Later in the day, an in-form Future FC side twice came from behind to earn a precious win over Ceramica Cleopatra.

Mido Gaber gave Ceramica Cleopatra the lead inside the first minute with a superb bicycle effort but Cameroonian full-back Jonathan Ngwem brought future level in the 27th minute.

Nigerian striker John Ebuka restored Ceramica Cleopatra's advantage on the stroke of halftime but Mohamed Reda cancelled his goal out with a brilliant curling shot one minute into the second period.

Egyptian international winger Omar Kamal settled the tie in Future's favour with an angled drive five minutes past the hour mark.

Future moved up to second with 26 points, one ahead of third-placed and defending champions Zamalek and four adrift of Ahly.
