Board of bottom club Ismaily steps down amid crisis

Ismaily's ongoing crisis was deepened after the club's board resigned on Sunday, hours after the team's 2-0 defeat by Harras El-Hodoud left them at the bottom of the Egyptian Premier League table.

The latest loss leaves the Suez Canal with just seven points from 12 games, three adrift of the safety zone.

The appointment of former Egypt striker Mido as Ismaily's new boss last month has so far failed to turn around their fortunes as they lost twice and drew once in their first three games under his guidance.

Mido replaced Spanish coach Juan Carlos Garrido, who started the season with the Dervishes before being sacked following a run of poor results.

Outgoing chairman Yehya El-Koumi was elected as the club president in October last year. The wealthy businessman vowed to help the team regain their past glories but they remained mired in financial woes.

Ismaily, Egypt's third-most successful team of all time, won the last of their three league titles in 2002.
