Copa Libertadores winners Flamengo came from behind to earn a 4-2 win over Egyptian side Ahly and finish third in the prestigious tournament.

Gabriel Barbosa netted two penalties for the Brazilian side, while his strike partner Pedro also struck twice in Tangier, Morocco.

Ahmed Abdelkader had netted a brace for Ahly to give them the lead but after defender Ali Maaloul missed a penalty, Khaled Abdelfattah's red card in the 69th minute tilted the game in Flamengo's favour and they won emphatically.

Ahly started the tournament in style with an easy 3-0 win against Auckland City of New Zealand before defeating US side Seattle Sounders 1-0 in the quarters to set up a historic date with Real Madrid in semifinals.

Despite losing 4-1 in the semis on Wednesday, Ahly produced a convincing performance against the European champions.

Meanwhile, Flamengo opened their Club World Cup campaign with 3-2 loss to Saudi Arabia’s Al-Hilal in the semi-final on Tuesday.

Spanish giants Real Madrid face Al-Hilal of Saudi Arabia in the final in Rabat later on Saturday.
