The draw for the second edition (2022-2023) of the tournament was held on Tuesday.
The League Cup is set to be played in a knockout system until the final, as opposed to last season's combined tournament system divided into three groups.
The preliminary round saw newly promoted teams Aswan, Haras El-Hodoud, and Dakhleya battle it out with Ghazl El Mahalla, the 15th-placed team in last season's league championship.
From that round, Ghazl El Mahalla and Haras El Hodood qualified, joining 14 teams from the Egyptian Premier League in the round of 16.
The matches will commence on Sunday, March 19th, with the showdown between Al-Ahly and Masry on Monday, March 27th, being the last match of the round of 16.
