The referee cancelled a goal for El-Nasr after checking the screen of a mobile phone confirming an El-Nasr player touched the ball with his hand before scoring the goal.

Photos went viral on Egyptian social media showing the referee checking the goal on the screen of a mobile phone, prompting the mockery of viewers.

According to a Montakhab El-Suez official, the scene began when the El-Nasr player scored the equaliser for his side while the score was 2-1 for the Suez-Canal based side.

The game initially stopped for around 20 minutes due to the objections of El-Suez officials who asked the referee to check the goal on the screen of a mobile phone.

The referee accepted the suggestion and he cancelled the goal after reviewing the scene.

The decision prompted the anger of El-Nasr officials and the game stopped for another 15 minutes before resuming the match which ended with a 3-1 victory for Montakhab El-Suez.

Earlier this week, the EFA competitions committee ratified the game result and fined several officials from both clubs.
