“The club was given the green light by security officials to host 50,000 supporters,” read a statement on the club’s official website on Tuesday.

Ahly will host Al-Hilal in the first of April at Cairo stadium, with the Egyptian side should win the game to seal passage to the competition’s quarter-finals alongside already qualified Sundowns of South Africa who have 11 points.

The South African side revived Ahly hopes of reaching the competition’s last eight after holding Al-Hilal to a 1-1 draw in Sudan, while Ahly outclassed Coton Sport 4-0 away from home last week to remain in the course for the second qualifying ticket of the group.

Ahly are now third in the group with seven points, three points behind second-placed Al-Hilal.

The reverse game saw Ahly lose to the Sudanese side 1-0 in Omdurman and the Red Devils should win with a better difference to advance to the next round due to their better head to head record.
