“Thanks, Ferreira, for your efforts with the team and we wish you all success in the future,” read a statement on the club’s official Facebook account.
The veteran coach who guided Zamalek to the domestic double in 2015, returned to the club in 2022 and managed to help the club win another domestic double.
The 76-year-old has been under fire since this year which saw poor results on all fronts.
He was sacked from his post in 24 January before being re-appointed as the team’s new coach with several reports explaining his surprise return by a clause in his contract with the club.
His third stint which saw him manage the team without his Portuguese assistants witnessed another poor results and the club was eliminated from the CAF Champions League group stage.
According to a club statement issued on Wednesday, the board reached an agreement with the Portuguese coach on mutual consent as he accepted to waive $520,000 of his dues
Under Ferreira's guidance Zamalek played 61 matches in all competitions, having won 34, drawing in 11 and losing in 14.
The club is yet to appoint a successor to Ferreira with several repports suggesting a local-based coach would complete the season.
Zamalek who won the past two editions of the Egyptian league are now fifth in the league table with 33 points, 11 points behind leaders Ahly who still have two matches in hand.
