Zamalek have announced the collapse of talks with German coach, Heiko Herrlich, to lead the team, citing disagreement over the value of the penalty clause.

Herrlich arrived in Egypt on Tuesday to negotiate with the club and replace Portuguese coach, Jesualdo Ferreira, who left after being eliminated from the African Champions League.

Despite the club's efforts to secure Herrlich's services, talks fell through, leaving Zamalek without a new coach.

Herrlich's coaching career has been troubled, with his tenures at senior clubs being short and unsuccessful.

His most recent post at Augsburg also ended in dismissal after over a year of struggle.

Following the failure to secure Herrlich's services, Zamalek has announced the formation of a new coaching staff approved by the technical committee, with Abdelwahed El-Sayed as the Football Director, Medhat Abdelhady and Ahmed Magdy as assistant coaches, and Mohamed Abdelmonsef as the goalkeeping coach.

The club has appointed Medhat Abdelhady as the interim coach to lead the team in the upcoming match against NBE club on Sunday evening.
