“Pyramids FC owners have decided to suspend investments in the club, social projects, the sports city and the stadium, due to the absence of the principle of equal opportunities and the absence of justice,” the club announced on its official Facebook account

“A board meeting will be held at the end of the season to consider the future of the club.”

Pyramids’ statement comes hours, after the Egyptian Football Association (EFA) to appoint an Egyptian referee for the Egypt Cup Final between Ahly and Pyramids FC.

The Club asked the EFA, earlier this week to appoint a foreign-based referee for the anticipated clash, but the Egyptian football governing body turned down their request.  

Last January Pyramids FC's Emirati owner Salem Al-Shamshi dropped a surprise hint that he could consider selling the club.

Al-Shamsi bought Pyramids in July 2019 from Saudi General Entertainment Authority chairman Turki Al-Sheikh. The club have failed to deliver silverware despite boasting a star-studded squad though.

They lost to Zamalek in the Egypt Cup final in 2019 before suffering a defeat by Morocco's RS Berkane in the Confederation Cup final a year later.
